This page explains how HRCalculator.net calculators produce results, how they are maintained, and what they do not determine.
Deterministic Formulas, Not AI
Every calculator uses deterministic formulas — the same inputs always produce the same result. Results are not generated by AI, machine learning, or statistical models.
User-Entered Values Drive Results
Each result is based entirely on the values and assumptions you enter. The calculators do not preload employer-specific data, tax rates, benefit rates, or benchmark values.
Scope of Current Tools
Most live calculators are formula-only: they compute results from the values and assumptions you enter and documented methods. The site does not preload employer-specific, government, tax, benefit, payroll, or benchmark data unless a specific calculator page clearly identifies a reviewed source for that data.
Formula Documentation
Each calculator page includes a "How This Is Calculated" section showing the exact formula used. Every calculator also documents its assumptions, limitations, and rounding treatment.
Engine Versioning
Each calculation engine has a unique identifier and version number. Changes to formulas or logic produce a new version. The current engine version and change history are shown on each calculator page.
Currency and Time Arithmetic
Currency amounts are stored and calculated as integer cents internally to avoid floating-point errors. Rounding happens only at documented display boundaries. Currency is displayed to two decimal places. Time is stored as whole minutes internally. Decimal hours are derived from minute totals for display.
External Sources
Formula-only calculators (such as pay conversions) do not require external citations to perform arithmetic. When calculators reference legal, regulatory, or rule-sensitive information, dated official sources are cited.
Review Governance
Each calculator defines a reviewedAt date (when the formula and content were last reviewed) and a nextReviewAt date (when the next review is scheduled). If the review date has passed, a visible "Review update pending" notice appears on the calculator.
Corrections
If a formula error is discovered, the engine version is updated, the correction is documented in the change history, and the review date is reset. You can report a possible issue on any calculator page using the structured feedback options. Material formula or default corrections are versioned and noted in the public Corrections Policy.
Advertising Status
Advertising is currently disabled on HRCalculator.net. If third-party advertising is enabled in the future, the site will update its Privacy Notice and consent controls before advertising technology is activated.

What Calculators Do Not Determine
- Legal entitlement or compliance obligations
- Worker classification (employee vs. contractor)
- Tax liability or withholding amounts
- Payroll compliance or accuracy
- Benefit eligibility or insurance premiums
- Employment obligations or HR policy requirements
- Individualized HR outcomes or legal advice
